How to Use Markdown

Updated September 9th, 2022

Urban Archive is markdown compatible. This makes it possible for you to add formatting elements in almost any text field on the platform.

This guide will show you how to add links to your content on Urban Archive.

Hyperlinks

You can use a hyperlink to link to your own website, an external source you referenced, or other content on Urban Archive.

To create a hyperlink, follow this format:

[text](www.url.com)

If there is a space between the closing bracket and the opening parentheses, the hyperlink won’t work.

BOLD AND ITALICS

Here’s a guide to the syntax you’ll want to use to format your text:

Italics: _text_
Bold: **text**

Once you press publish or exit edit mode the formatting syntax will disappear.

Where to use markdown

Hyperlinks can be added to almost any text fields in stories, posts, and on your profile page.

They aren’t compatible as a notification, in a title, or as a caption.
